You're Not One of Those Fags Who Leads a Double Life...

...hell, everything about your life is single, single, single!  Seriously though, at twenty you came out to your parents after your college boyfriend dumped you (single, single, single!) and although you called them for emotional support, after you came out you wound up being the one who had to console your hysterical mother.  But from that moment on, you've pretty much lived one single, single, single solitary life where everybody knows that you're a big ol' fag.  However, what everybody doesn't know is that you're a big ol' fag with a Blah-Blah-Blog.

Some people do know.  Your close friends.  Their close friends.  And so on.  And so on.  And so on.  If you could do it over you wouldn't have told anybody.  Not a soul.  But now you live in fear that eventually you're going to hurt someone who you really care about.  Like when you were dating Blonde Beard.  To this day you're not sure if he dumped you because he found out about the online chronicle of your dating life.  And honestly, this is probably why you can't seem to get over the hairy cheeked non-boyfriend.  The idea that you might have jeopardized your chance at a meaningful relationship because of your narcissistic online endeavor is really just too much to process.  Even three months after he left you crying your girlie little eyes out on the West 4th Street subway platform.  Cue the violins and grab yourself a hankie.

Anyway.  Enough about Blonde Beard.  Back to you and your relatively new brown beard.  Tonight's a busy night.  You've got a fancy birthday dinner with the BLC at Cipriani Dolci.  In Grand Central Station of all places!  And then if the BLC feels up to it, you've been invited to yet another birthday party for yet another Blah-Blah-Blogger who somehow figured out who you were.  You have no idea how these Hardy Boys are solving the mystery of You!

As you're getting all dolled up for the fancy-schmancy dinner that you can't afford, you remember to check out Zee Blogger's evite to get the 411 on his birthday party.  Although you've already changed at least six times, as you pop your head out from an old, yet dressy blue Armani shirt from your fancier days, you can't help but sigh when you realize that Zee Blogger is having a, get this, Pink Party.  Ugh.  You're already running late and, let's face it, unlike Molly Ringwald, you are not so Pretty in Pink.   Eventually you decide that the Calvin Klein underwear you have on will have to do.  Although it used to be white, you ruined it while washing it with a red towel while doing a free load of laundry out on Fire Island.  Pink underwear is what you get for being cheap.  But you digress. Even though you're running late, now that you're looking at Zee Blogger's invitation, you suddenly get curious about who's on the guest list.  You are immediately thrilled to find your Internet Crush's name at the top of the list!  Of course he's also figured out who you are, however you've never actually met and your cheeks instantly flush at the idea of meeting your favorite Gay Movie Star in person!  It's all very exciting as you continue to scroll through the pages and pages of RSVP's (yes, Zee Blogger is that fabulous), but your heart literally stops on the third of five pages when you notice that, gasp, your Hobosexual Roommate's name on the fucking guest list!  Suddenly you have this paralyzing fear that you'll run into him and the BLC boys will start calling him the Hobosexual to his face!  Or worse, what if the Hobosexual asks Zee Blogger how exactly he knows you?  If they have a conversation you know that it will inevitably contain the term "Hobosexual!"  And if somehow neither of those doomsday scenarios play out, then surely your Internet Crush will out you after a few cocktails have been thrown down his neck.  After all, you've read about his drunken shenanigans on his blog.  Meanwhile, are there any gay boys who don't have a blog?

Although dinner at Cipriani Dolci is absolutely fantastic, you spend the entire meal sweating about filing for Chapter 11 after they swipe your credit card.  And if that's not bad enough, you are terrified that the BLC will end up wanting to go to Zee Pink Party where they will inevitably meet the Hobosexual!  So you end up doing what you always do when you're nervous.  You order a Stoli O' and Soda and boldly tell the waiter to "Keep 'em comin'!"  Inevitably this makes the check less affordable, but it will also make Zee Pink Partee much less awkward.  And, typically, it would also have the added benefit of making the sticker shock of the steep check more palatable when it finally arrives.  However, you are shocked into a state of girly giddiness when Fat Albert grabs the check and generously pays for all of you!  On his birthday!  Hell, had you known you were going to win Restaurant Lotto you would've ordered a flock of Grey Geese!  And an appetizer.  Made of Goose Liver, of course.

After the lovely dinner the BLC wants to go to Zee Pink Partee, so you make them promise, under no circumstances, that the word "Hobosexual" will ever fall from any of their bitchy tongues!  Even though, of course, you know they'll revel in torturing you all night long just because they love to see you squirm.  When you finally arrive, not only is everybody wearing pink, but everybody cheeks are flush pink because there is something wrong with the air conditioning.  Apparently there are just too damn many Hot Boys at Zee Pink Partee and the A/C just can't handle it.  So you and your blue pit stains begin to mingle amongst the pinks as you wait in fear for the Hobosexual to jump off his freight train, complete with his bindle hanging from a stick, which, after learning his Internet nickname, he will certainly beat you to a pulp with.

Maybe it's because you're trembling with fear, or maybe it's because everybody is just way too cute, or possibly it's because it's about seven degrees hotter than hell in Zee apartment (and you're talking Celsius), but you don't really talk to anybody other than a boy you went on a Revenge Date with who's name you can't remember.  However, Zee Blogger is glad to see you, and you wish him a Happy Birthday and compliment his beautiful apartment which is like a little slice of Hell('s Kitchen).  Of course you ask about your Internet Crush, but Zee Blogger says he came early and has already left.  What's up with that?  And although you practically have to bite your tongue not to ask about the Hobosexual, you decide it's best to keep your big mouth shut and just live your rocky double life while sipping on your double Absolut on the rocks.  Anyway...

You're Not One of Those New Jersey Fags...

...but you are definitely a Beach Ho, so when your Gal Pal invites you to her Mom's shore house for Memorial Day weekend, you pull your best gold chain out of retirement and pack up the Bitchen Camero with the rest of your Bada Bling and head down to Seaside Park. The traffic is, predictably, horrendous, and you are trapped in the back of the Overly Affectionate Straight Couple's Bitchen Camero with a large dog named Mr. President who you'd definitely like to impeach since he is hogging more than his share of the bench seat.

As you approach Exit 100 of the Garden State Parking Lot, your Gal Pal turns down her new favorite song "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. from her blown out speakers. Then she casually informs you that her Niece and Nephew will be joining you for the weekend. And suddenly you put a pretend to put a gun to your head while you sing along with the song, "All you wanna do is go Bang, Bang, Bang!" as if you're the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang, Bang Bang! Now it's not that you hate children, per se, in fact, way back when you were a little boy some of your dearest friends were actually children. But now that you are thirtysomething you find them to be, shall we say, a bit irritating. Now it's not like you hate all children, actually it's mostly the ones you are related to that you can't stand. But you digress. You are in a bit of shock as you utter, "Babies?" with more than a bit of disdain. "No, no, no!" your Gal Pal assures you. "My niece is six and my nephew is thirteen. But he's troubled." "Oh good," you say as you imagine your lifeless, body hanging from a fence along the boardwalk à la Matthew Sheppard. "I hear troubled teenage boys love the gays."

But the kids actually turn out to be cute and the six year old girl is this adorable Mini Pink Fluffy Thing who is so mature that you wouldn't be surprised if she told you she had scheduled her first boob job for next week. She makes you watch Hannah Montana and then flits around the house, walking with her arms up in the air as if she's eliciting applause while giving dramatic sighs every time somebody changes the conversation to a subject other than her. You absolutely love this Little Drag Queen In Progress and, later on at the beach, you spend the afternoon building her elaborate Gay Sand Castles, which, of course, the Troubled Teen knocks down. Actually the Troubled Teen isn't too terrible either, at least not when he's properly medicated. Anyway.

After a delicious barbecue you all decide to take the kids to the boardwalk, mostly so you can beat their asses in Skee-Ball, which, of course, you do. You basque in the pleasure of whipping two whipper snappers, and tease them about how bad they are until they're almost at the point of tears, before you end up bribing their frowns away with the wad of Skee-Ball tickets that you won. When you leave the arcade you notice that the social scene has dramatically changed. The boardwalk has become overrun with Seventeen Year Old Thugs with Pen-Line Jaw Beards. These Future Ex-Cons strut along with their Candy Cotton-eating Ho's who seem to have missed the memo that skintight Lycra went out of style along with David Lee Roth. Only these girls actually look like they may have actually eaten David Lee Roth, because they all have a disturbing Muffin-Top effect where their exposed bellies ooze out in the space between their Lycra and their low-cut jeans. Welcome to Senior Week on the Jersey Shore! Which does nothing but making you feel like a Senior Citizen living in fear of being mugged. You grab the kids and drag them home, stopping only briefly to ride the Go-Karts with a few overly made-up Go-Go-Tarts.

When you get back to the house you immediately send the overly-sugared children back to their grandmother, and that's when the Overly Affectionate Straight Couple begins to fake some yawns. You can't help but think to yourself, Is this what it feels like to be straight? 10pm Yawns after a day of Medicated Children and Pin-Line Jaw Beards? What is wrong with these people? And why aren't they having Gay Cocktails? However, there is only one problem to your conundrum. You are at least forty-five minutes away from the nearest Gay Bar! Not to mention the fact that you have no car! After a brief panic attack, your Gal Pal's boyfriend, The Most Hated Man In New York, generously offers you his jalopy so you can drag your ass up to Asbury Park to get your long overdue daily dose of Gay.

Driving the Bitchen Camero is a chore in itself, but you are happy to have access to it. Until, halfway to Asbury, you realize that you'll have to drive the damn thing home! How on earth are you supposed to do that? All this pesky driving is already interfering with your drinking and you haven't even had your first Gay Cocktail yet! Anyway. You park next to the Empress Hotel and make your way over to Paradise, which, unfortunately for you, will obviously be more of a Dry Desert than a Cocktail Infused Oasis. You do allow yourself to order a Bud Light, and as you are paying for it the DJ puts on some incredible Shep Pettibone-esque mega-mix of "Don't Stop the Music." You quickly pay the bartender and race over to the dance floor where, of course, you jump up on the stage and start dancing because that's exactly the type of exhibitionist you are. You'll show these Jersey Boys how we do it in New York! Only when you look around, there aren't that many Jersey Boys. The club that you just spent forty-five minutes driving to, the same one that you can't drink in because you have to drive forty-five minutes back, is practically empty!

After paying your respects to Rhianna, you do a quick Fruit Loop around the sprawling club and check out the Pool Area. The Sunday crowd is definitely not so cute. At all. Except for one boy who quickly catches your eye and actually says, "Hello," as you pass by. Suddenly your sober evening doesn't seem like such a bust, until the cute boy asks you in a familiar accent, "What are you doing down here?" Your mind begins to race as you try to place him! Suddenly he looks familiar, but you can't remember from where! You have some quick chit-chat while studying his face for clues. His current haircut is rather tragic, and you are sure that's what's throwing you off. But when he mentions that he is at the shore visiting some friends of his who are also from Venezuela, you instantly remember who he is. You actually met this boy at a gay bar in Dublin last summer, and you hooked up once in New York. Although he was incredibly sexy, he was rather rude to your friends and you felt like something was a little bit off. Of course you slept with him anyway, but you never called him back. Cut to 2008 in Asbury Park with a tragic haircut. The Vengeful Venezuelan tells you to come and hang out by the pool with his friends, but you tell him that you're gonna grab another beer and excuse yourself while making a mental note to avoid The Pool area as if it was quarantined.

That's when you stumble upon another room which is playing '80s New Wave which, of course, draws you in like a Star Trek Tractor Beam. You actually do wind up ordering one more Bud Light (you wouldn't want to break your word to the Vengeful Venezuelan...) and you sit down on a couch while scanning the room for cute boys whom you haven't slept with. Unfortunately there aren't any. So you just pick up some random New Jersey Gay Rag and start flipping through it. You are instantly drawn to a review of your Internet Crush's movie, A Four Letter Word, and you are instantly up in arms because, although it was a fantastic little film, this Critical Jersey Queen has given it a bad review! You seek solace in the fact that the Jersey Queen can't write for shit, and is obviously unable to grasp the deep nuances of the magic, infectious sparkle that is Jesse Archer. That's when some Big Boy sits down next to you on the couch with his even Bigger Boyfriend and they start chatting you up even though the bad review has thoroughly upset you and has left you feeling quite unsocial. The Big Boy asks you, "Is there any place better than this on Sunday nights?" And you look over at the Big Boy rather quizzically and say, half joking, but mostly not, while doing your best Tony Soprano, "Do I look like I'm from Jersey?" And that's when the Big Boy actually says, "Yes." Anyway...

You're Not One of Those Fags Who Says Things He Doesn't Mean...

...but sometimes you definitely mean things that you don't actually say. Like when you go out for brunch with The Ex. You've known each other so long that you don't even need to say things. In fact you can have entire fights without even saying a word. On the other hand, you can still have moments where you wonder why you ever broke up. Anyway. He's finished production on the movie he's directing in Texas and has a week off before moving to LA to begin editing. Since his idea of rest entails nodding off in a Broadway theater, you two meet at Eatery for a nice brunch before his matinee begins. You, of course, are late without any valid excuse, but The Ex, for some unusual reason, doesn't give you a hard time. You get seated right away and order something light because you feel like a big fat pig. And the two of you begin to yap while you wait for you food.

You start talking to The Ex about his imminent trip to Los Angeles and somehow you get on the subject of flying with the Kitty Cunt. The Ex got the cat in the divorce, and that was fine because he should have. That Kitty Cunt meant more to him than you ever did, and besides, you hated cleaning the damn litter box. Anyway. The Ex tells you a story about when he was traveling to LA with the Kitty Cunt who was, surprisingly, on her best behavior. However, during their Limo ride to The Four Seasons (yes, The Ex is fancy in that way), the Kitty Cunt couldn't hold it in anymore, so she turned her Kitty Cunt toward The Ex, raised her tail up inside the traveling cage, and pee'd a stream of smelly cat piss onto The Ex's white button-down shirt! The Ex freaked out and immediately opened the limo's window and hung the traveling cage out the window over the 405 (as if he were Michael Jackson dangling Blanket over that Berlin Balcony), and let the Kitty Cunt spray her scent over the gridlock they call West LA.

The two of you laugh and laugh over this ridiculous scenario until you begin to cry. Only you're not crying in that good way that The Ex thinks you are. You're actually wondering why Blonde Beard has never make you laugh like this? You wonder why your conversations with Blonde Beard aren't as easy-breezy as talking with The Ex. After brunch you are screwed because you know you must spend the day shopping for a present for Blonde Beard's 40th birthday and you have no idea what to buy. Although you had planned to take him to Vermont for a romantic birthday weekend, Blonde Beard's school schedule has recently changed and that trip will have to be postponed for weeks. And now you must come up with some sort of offering before his birthday dinner this evening.

During the train ride downtown, you put your thinking cap on to figure out a nice, romantic present that won't break the bank. You are, after all, still taking him out for an expensive dinner tonight, not to mention taking him to Vermont in three weeks. But you know you need to show up to dinner with something thoughtful. Luckily on the subway you have a brainstorm and you decide to make a Photo Book that documents all of the dates that you've been on since you two met. So you race home and quickly charge your digital camera while consulting your Blah-Blah-Blog for all of the wonderful places you've been. You make a list of bars and restaurants and then race down the six flights of stairs with the week-old surgical scars from your Hurtful Hernia. And you begin to document your relationship. You start at Urge where you had your first kiss and then you make your way West to all the romantic places you two have ever been. As you are taking photos of Quartino Bottega Organica, someone rudely asks you what the hell you are doing and you look up to see an old friend giving you shit. You are a bit embarrassed, but you explain to your Project Runway wannabe friend that you are photographing date locations for a Birthday Gift. Project Wannabe instantly starts to gush and he is sooooooo happy for you that, man-wise, things have finally turned around for you. You chit-chat for a bit, but you have tons of places to document, so you double-kiss him goodbye and then limp your way from East to West Village, taking photos and business cards from all the super cute places that you've shared experiences with Blonde Beard.

Sometimes people eating at these restaurants look at you a bit funny, but you don't really care. Sometimes you have to wait for a long time for the restaurant manager to find you a business card from beneath the cash register, but it's all worth it because everybody gushes about how romantic your gift is, and they all go out of their way to help you, which only makes you more and more excited to give it to Blonde Beard. At Shag, you even have to chat with the Bartender (who you made out with once in the corner of the bar which the surveillance system doesn't survey) while you explain that you are making a scrapbook for Blonde Beard. And funnily enough, the card the Shag Bartender gives you includes his phone number, prominently written on the back. But you digress. You wind up photographing twenty-three places and by the time you finish you can barely walk. You've spent the entire day documenting your relationship with Blonde Beard, and you wind up racing back home to quickly shower before meeting him at Supper for his birthday dinner. Of course you don't have enough time to actually make the book on Shutterfly, but Blonde Beard's birthday is a day away and you feel confident that your tardy present will be well worth it.

You're only a few minutes late, but Blonde Beard is, of course, waiting for you outside of Supper. You are soooooo excited to see him, however when you arrive it is obvious that he's in a bad mood. He informs you that he is feeling sick (again) and he begins to complain about it. However, you have spent the last five hours schlepping around Manhattan reminiscing about your relationship, and you are on such a natural high that you aren't about to engage his complaints. You just ignore anything negative, even when he seems to be taking it out on you for simply suggesting that he might want to finally go see a doctor. Although you let it all go, you can't help but wonder if Blonde Beard is trying to pick a fight? Perhaps he's just anxious about his big birthday? Whatever it is, it doesn't matter because you are here to make everything better tonight.

Your table isn't ready so you head over to the bar and buy a pair of overpriced $12 margaritas. You're even more bummed when you have to tip $2 per lousy (ridiculously expensive) drink, but you are happy when the tequila seems to help Blonde Beard lighten up. Eventually the host seats you at a not-so-private table for two, and you order more drinks as you begin your not-so-romantic dinner, during which Blonde Beard answers a phone call from his Jealous Roommate. Blonde Beard is told that he shouldn't come home because his Jealous Roommate is installing a new kitchen faucet this evening. You, of course, laugh heartily at this information, because his Jealous Roommate is the same man who hates you for joking about the fact that he's never going to finish his endless renovation... Meanwhile, you're thrilled because the faucet situation insures that Blonde Beard will be spending the night at your place (for the first time), which means you won't have to deal with the Jealous Renovating Roommate. During dinner you attempt (at least three times) to caress Blonde Beard's knee with your hand, but unlike previous dates, his hand never meets yours beneath the table. Perhaps his affectionate-less distance has something to do with him feeling sick? Anyway.

Somehow dinner, plus tip, turns out to be $130 (not counting the $28 margaritas you bought at the bar), and it wasn't even that good. But Blonde Beard seems to have drunken himself beyond his bad mood so it was worth it. When you walk outside you somehow remember that you have brought your camera and you attempt to coax Blonde Beard into allowing a stranger to take a photograph. You, of course, want this photo to be the very last photo in your Photo Album of Dates, but Blonde Beard whines about being sick and not looking good and you just let it go because, after all, it is his birthday even though you imagined the last page in the photo book to include a picture of the two of you.

For some reason Blonde Beard wants to go to Hell's Kitchen and you agree (even though you know your Internet Crush is less than three blocks away at Eastern Bloc), and you wind up going to The Ritz. You start a tab there and drink lots of poorly poured beers by the cute but lousy bartender from Syracuse who slept with your BFF. Would it actually kill him to fill the damn glass? Eventually you are able to coax your shy Blonde Beard onto the dance floor, and even though you are suffering from post surgical swollen testicles, you somehow find the energy to dance. Blonde Beard just stands there. Watching. Disapprovingly. Even though coming to The Ritz was his choice. He keeps looking around at other people, but not in that skeevy way where he's checking them out because he wants to chat them up. Somehow it seems like he's just not that interested in chatting you up. Like his Attention Deficit Disorder is pulling him away from you. Even though it doesn't seem personal, it still doesn't feel good. Eventually the dance floor is packed and Blonde Beard starts making fun of the music (even though it's really rather good, which is easily illustrated by all the cute young boys grinding around you). Since you're feeling a bit unsure of the increasingly awkward situation, you decide that flirting is the best policy and inform your hairy faced man that your friend Bunny recently told you that once Blonde Beard saw you dance that he would fall head over heels in love with you. However, when Blonde Beard doesn't even react to either your dance moves nor Bunny's ridiculous claim, you definitely don't feel like dancing anymore.

So you go to Barrage for their Hour of Power and you position yourselves at the far end of the bar where nobody seems to be bothering you. Somehow you finally begin to talk. For real. And even though you've had way too much to drink, you are somehow still emotionally parched for something that has seemed elusive all night long. Honestly, you're not even sure how the conversation begins (although you definitely bring it up), and you (not so suddenly) find yourself on such uneven footing that you can't help but begin to ask probing questions. You don't even remember what you ask exactly. But it doesn't really matter. Nothing he says is reassuring. You begin to panic. How did you go from birthday cocktails to this fucking conversation? Although everything Blonde Beard says is bad, the only thing you actually remember him saying is the only thing actually worth remembering, "Between work and school and you, I feel like I'm spreading myself too thin..." And that's it. When you hear that you know it's over. People don't say things like that when they really like someone. People say things like that when they want to break up. Or when they want you to break up with them. The ironic thing is that you didn't even feel like Blonde Beard was neglecting you! Lately, of course, things have been odd, but he's always offered you all of his free time! Which he has next to none of! That's not such a thin spread! But these are things that aren't worth arguing about. You have no interest in someone who spreads himself too thinly for you. You know you deserve more than that. And Blonde Beard knows that, too. And that's exactly why he's saying what he's saying. You, of course, pay the tab and tell him you want to go home.

On your way back to the subway Blonde Beard informs you that he thinks he should go home alone (even though there is no running water) instead of spending the night with you; that he will call you tomorrow. None of this surprises you any longer. The C train comes and you both hop on and sit in absolute silence from 42nd Street to West 4th. You both get off there, since you need to transfer to the F and Blonde Beard needs to race home to his faucet-less apartment. So you find yourselves standing on the A-C-E platform at West 4th and you are unable to move. You know that there is nothing more to say, of course, but you can't seem to break away. You physically cannot leave him. You feel terrible because you're worried that you have both ruined his birthday and are now breaking up. You just stand there, silently, waiting for something to end the awkwardness, when the A train pulls up. It seems like Blonde Beard is trying to get rid of you when he asks if you can take that train home since it's on a fucked up Weekend Schedule. You can't, but the fact that he wants you to hop on the train makes you feel unwanted and really sad. You tell him, "It is really, really hard to walk away from you right now." And then you look deep into Blonde Beard's blue eyes as your brown ones begin to well up with tears, so you instantly avert your gaze and lean in toward him so you can whisper into his ear, "Because I love you." And you mean it.

Then you walk away. You don't look back as you head down the stairwell to the F train because you are scared to. That's when you really begin to ball because you know it will be the last time you will ever see Blonde Beard. All you want is for him to run after you and grab you into a hug and make everything better. But somehow you make it to the downstairs platform and walk the entire length to the front of the train, passing by drunks who stare at you and your girly tears, without hide nor hair of Blonde Beard. You sit down and cry for an eternity before the F train arrives. And even though he said he would, you know in your heart that Blonde Beard won't call the next day. That he was just saying something he didn't really mean because he felt uncomfortable. Anyway...

You're Not One of Those Name Dropping Fags...

... (Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer!) but you find yourself unable to keep hush-hush about the fact that your Internet Crush (Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer!) who just happens to be the star and co-writer of the fabulous new movie, A Four Letter Word, has sent you his photo (Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer!) to be included in your Blah-Blah-Blog's slide show! And as if that wasn't enough to get your panties in a twist, your handsome, movie-star Internet Crush also invited you and your BFF to come to the New York Opening of his new film at the World Famous Chelsea Clearview Theater. Anonymously, of course.

Meanwhile, all of this brouhaha has put you in way too good a mood to go to Connecticut for a funeral, but, unfortunately, the father of one of The Bolters has recently passed away and you and your High School friend, Bunny, have decided to schlep out to Greenwich to, shall we say, represent. Although you thought you were closeted back in High School somehow you still managed to be the only Boy Bolter in an exclusive group of Burgeoning Teenage Fag Hags. And somehow, all these years later, even though everything is different, nothing has really changed (besides the fact that when you were in High School George Michael was straight and Madonna was gay). At the funeral you pick right up with your old friends as if no time, nor fathers, have passed. However you do have the eerie realization that 2/3 of your friends' fathers have now kicked the bucket. In fact, you and Bunny are the only two Bolters whose fathers haven't, for lack of a better word, Bolted.

The Eulogy is kind of sad, but not in the typical "Oh I didn't realize this man was so wonderful" kind of way. In this particular instance you are kind of shocked at how un-wonderful this man is being portrayed. Although you were very good friends with his daughter, you never really knew much about the man lying in the casket, mostly because he was a very successful businessman who was always working. Somehow it seems appropriate that one of his New York Telephone colleagues is giving the eulogy. Even though you remember their sapppy old commercials bringing tears to your eyes, The Colleague is actaully making you wince as he informs the grieving Orphans (and the rest of the not so crowded church) about what a great job the dead man did thirty years ago on some Merrill Lynch Project. He drones on and on about how he was in charge of installing twenty-thousand phone lines when Merrill Lynch moved their corporate office downtown. Snore. During the Eulogy, The Colleague uses words like "stoic," "hard-headed" and "staunch," and he barely recognizes the five recently orphaned children in the front row. He definitely never refers to them by name.

After the funeral ends, you and Bunny hug the Orphaned Bolter who breaks down in your arms as she says, "My two best friends from High School!" And you instantly know that schlepping out to Greenwich for the "stoic" funeral was the right thing to do. You are here to support your old friend in her time of need. And you get to meet her super cute baby who is nothing but happiness and smiles (luckily the stoic gene must've skipped another generation).

You race back to the train station because, after all, you can only take so much of the suburbs before you start to break out in Heterosexual Hives, and on your way back to the city you start thinking about what your BFF would say about you if he were giving your eulogy. He certainly wouldn't be talking about the Merrill Lynch Deal that you slaved over, but what would he say? Half of the funny things he could say would probably be way too inappropriate for Straight Company. You'd definitely have to have a Boys Only Service where he could reminisce about the time you entered, and lost, that damn Ass Circus Strip Contest! Or perhaps he would mention that time when you both were so broke that you decided to brown bag it between Gay Bars and got caught by an undercover cop while walking around with a Forty Ouncer? (Come to think of it you probably should have been arrested just for purchasing that damn Breeder-esque Budweiser.) Or maybe he'd mention the time last summer when you two schlepped out to Fire Island on the last ferry of the night with no place to sleep in order to play a round of P.H.A.G. F.A.G. (Please Help A Gay Find A Guy). Needless to say you woke up the next morning, miserably hungover, still single and extremely sandy.

You breathe a sigh of relief when MetroNorth returns your gay ass back to Grand Central without getting Gay Bashed by Suburban Republican Thugs, and you race home to change from your Functional Funereal Frock into something much more Gay-Appropriate so you will sparkle and hopefully catch the piercing blue eyes of your Internet Crush (Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer!) So you put on your G-Star V-Neck to compliment your True Religions and make your way over to the Chelsea Clearview to catch the New York Premiere of A Four Letter Word.

You actually get to the theater *gasp* early, and, since all the rest of the Chelsea Queens are still on Gay Standard Time, you and your BFF get excellent seats. You wind up sitting directly across the aisle from the middle row which is roped off for all those Filmmakers and Grips and Fluffers that were necessary to make your Internet Crush look adorable on the Silver Screen. And since you're on the aisle, you get an excellent view as all the Boys and their Fag Hags start filling up the Roped Off Seats. Only you start to get concerned as the row fills up with nary a sign of your Internet Crush. Will he pull a Madonna and just sneak into the packed theater after the lights go down? Or is he going to pull a Britney and just skip his own Premiere because in reality he's just a Hot Tranny Mess? Regardless, you don't have time to dwell on this situation because you're way too irritated from standing up and sitting back down again (over and over) because the Irritating Boys next to you keep racing to the bathroom to pee, or to get refills of Diet Coke, or probably, more likely, keep racing to the bathroom for to refill their dieting nostrils with Coke. After the fourth time of this up-and-down nonsense, you decide to give the Irritating Boys your Evil Stank Eye, only when you look up at the cuter of the two, you almost faint as his Off-White Linen Blazer brushes your cheek while he says, "Excuse me," because, you realize, that the Cute Irritating Boy who has been sitting next to you this whole time is, indeed, your Internet Crush! (Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer, Jesse Archer!)

Apparently a better seat opened up and your Internet Crush and his Posse of One decided to move over with the Cast & Crew. Unfortunately this all happens in the brief seconds before the lights go down, so you don't even get to stare at him shamelessly while batting your eyes and stuttering something inappropriate like, "Would you autograph the crotch of my True Religions?" But luckily the movie starts so you don't spend too much time beating yourself up over your Missed Star-Fucker Opportunity. Meanwhile, you quickly become engaged with the film (which is almost as cute as your Internet Crush) and you love-love-love seeing all your local watering holes featured prominently in the film (Vlada, XES, HK Lounge). You also love that you are completely surprised and extremely impressed that such a cute, well-written, well-intentioned, un-preachy, completely hysterical movie could be made on such a shoe-string budget! And we're not talking about Prada shoe laces, boys. We're talking about a Last Markdown at D.S.W. after their Christmas Blowout Sale kind of budget. But the thing that really knocks your socks off (besides the fact that you get to see your Internet Crush naked...) is that although this Indie Film is about as gay as gay can get, it somehow remains chock-full of heart (not to mention cock-full of Full Frontal Male Nudity.) You definitely attribute this feat to your Internet Crush who helped give three-dimensions to a seemingly two-dimensional character, not only through his acting, but also from his writing (your über-talented Internet Crush also co-wrote the film).

When the movie finishes, the Cast and Crew get up to answer questions from the Audience and you are much too afraid to ask anything, although you love hearing your Internet Crush cross all kinds of inappropriate P.R. Lines as he mentions a Fluffing Story that took place Off-Camera during the Drag Queen scene. This is when you realize that your Internet Crush is definitely going to have one damn interesting Eulogy himself; probably complete with Full Frontal Male Nudity. And you begin to wonder if this might be another one of those Gay/Straight differences that makes you pleased as punch to be a Card Carrying Homosexual. While those poor Straight Men are out brokering Phone Deals for Merrill Lynch to support their children, you Gay Boys only have to support your own bar tabs (and honey, your tab is just like feeding a fat family of six. And we're talking Straight Fat).

Afterwards your Internet Crush invites you (and the rest of the damn theater) to an After-Party at H.K. Lounge where you can get a free drink with your ticket stub. But, unfortunately, since you got in for free, you have no ticket stub. But you also feel a bit humbled by both the funeral as well as the boundless talent of your Internet Crush, so you decide to let him sparkle amongst all his adoring fans tonight. But this probably has more to do with the stalker in you knowing that on some other random non-movie premiere evening you won't have to share him with anybody else. Anyway...
